Agriculture
Rajasthan is famously known for its large land area. This and its diverse agro-climatic conditions allows the cultivation of a variety of crops. Agriculture and its allied sectors play a significant role in the state’s economy, contributing nearly 26% of the state’s total GSDP in 2019-20. Around 62% of the working population depend on agriculture for their livelihood, making it an integral part of their livelihood.

Policies & Ease Of Doing Business
The economic development of the state is mainly dependent on the contribution of industries. The state is a land of rich heritage, art, culture and abundant natural resources. The 27.8% contribution of industries in Rajasthan’s economy is growing continuously. The policies are developed with a view of promoting balanced, sustainable and eco-friendly industrial development. They are also creating employment opportunities, developing infrastructure and promoting regional industrialisation. All the policies encourage businesses to invest in Rajasthan and emerge as the most preferred investment destination in India.
There are various policies for every section of the industry. From MSME Act for budding enterprises to Tourism Policy, all targeted to improve the engagement and development of the state. Some major proposals are fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, strengthening sectors like Textile, Agro Food Processing, Auto Components, Mines & Minerals, and Service Sector. These policies also offer various fiscal incentives to enterprises and exemption from permissions and inspections for a certain period, which helps them greatly to set up the industry.
To enhance the convenience of doing business in various states in India, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) initiated a study to assess States on reform parameters to ease of doing business. The document highlights promising practices in various areas that require institutionalized for States, DPIIT conducts a ranking of implementation of reforms per annum.
Rajasthan has been consistently ranked amongst the TOP 10 states in India by DPIIT & World Bank EoDB ranking since 2015. In the year, 2019 Rajasthan ranked 8th position among other states in India and has been recognized in the 'Aspirers' category.
