Agriculture

The state stands at 4th position in food grain production and 2nd in oilseeds production, from staple crops like Wheat, Barley, Pulses to Sugarcane and Oilseed to Cash crops like Cotton and Tobacco.

Rajasthan is the largest producer of coarse cereals and coriander and the second-largest producer of pulses, oilseeds, cumin and garlic in India.

The state has 11.26% of the country’s livestock population and contributes about 12.93% of the total milk production and 32.89% of the total wool production in the country. As a result, Animal Husbandry contributes to more than 1/3rd share of the agriculture sector.

The agriculture sector has thrown tremendous open opportunities to establish vibrant and potentially profitable agro-processing units in Rajasthan successfully. Around 850 food processing factories have been established in the state. Rajasthan is a major producer of different agri-produce offers vast potential in processing of:
  1. Soya based food-processing for soya milk and soya protein.
  2. Cereals for High Fructose, Corn Syrup and low-fat products, Barley for malt purpose.
  3. Guar gum derivatives have application in paper, textile, mining, and other industries and Guar gum powder to apply in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
  4. Setting up spice processing units for raw seed, powder seed, oleoresins.
  5. Waxing plants, packhouses and the cold chain for fruits & vegetables
  6. Units for drying, dehydration & processing units for canned juices, marmalades, squash, fruit juice concentrate of fruits like Oranges, Kinnow, Pomegranate, Guava, and Date Palm.
  7. Processing units for vegetables like brinjal, cabbage, cauliflower.
  8. Essential oil extraction units of spices and medicinal & aromatic plants & olive.
  9. Processing units of herbal medicines based on Aonla, Isabgol, Sonamukhi, Ashwagandha, Aloe vera, Henna.
  10. Hi-tech nurseries for fruit plant sapling production
  11. Greenhouses for off-season and exotic vegetable production
  12. Establishment of commercial dairy units
  13. Setting up of processing of camel milk and goat milk separately which is of therapeutic utility
  14. Setting up of Livestock feed units
  15. Establishment of poultry processing units, Refrigerated warehousing and Agro-Food Parks in the state: Ajmer, Alwar, Jodhpur, Kota, Sriganganagar.
