Shiv Kumar Sarin is an Indian clinician; gastroenterologist, hepatologist, translational scientist, avid researcher and a gifted teacher. He set-up under Delhi Govt., the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS); the largest liver hospital and research set-up, a deemed Liver University, and a WHO centre. He is the recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, India's highest scientific honour, and the Padma Bhushan [2007], the country's third highest civilian honour. He was Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Medical Council of India and helped form the New Medical Education Framework, which included the adoption of the NEET and NEXT exams. He founded the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) and the Asian Pacific School of Hepatology. Prof. (Dr.) Shiv Kumar Sarin received his M.B., B.S. from S.M.S. Medical College in Jaipur in 1974, his MD in internal medicine in 1978, and his DM in gastroenterology from AIIMS in New Delhi in 1981.

DR. Ashok Panagariya was born in 1950 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. He earned his MBBS in 1972, a Post Graduate in Internal Medicine from SMS Medical College University in 1976, and a DM (Neurology) from PGI Chandigarh before becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. He is a neurologist, medical researcher, and professor who specialises in nerve cells and neuromyotonic science. He was a former Vice Chancellor of the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences in Jaipur and a member of the Rajasthan Government's Planning Board. Currently, Panagariya is an honorary neurologist to the Indian Armed Forces and an emeritus professor at SMS Medical College. In 2002, he received the Dr. B. C. Roy Medal, India's highest medical honour. In 2014, India's government bestowed upon him the civilian honour of Padma Shri.
