Rajasthan is the 2nd latest mineral producing state in the country, sharing 9% of the country’s total mineral production. It is also one of the wealthiest states in terms of availability and variety of metallic and non-metallic minerals in India; hence there is a massive potential for mineral-based industries in the state.
In addition, there is well-developed transport, communication and power infrastructure in the State. The mineral policy of the State has been formulated to facilitate investment in the mineral-based industrial sector. The State offers an investor-friendly environment and welcomes Indian and multinational investment in mineral-based industries.
Rajasthan also commands the largest on-shore oil reserves in the country. The Mangala Area is a major oil field that produces about 200,000 barrels of oil per day.
The state is the sole producer of Lead Ores, Zinc Ores, Selenite, and Wollastonite. It is also a lead producer of various minerals like Silver, Gypsum, Feldspar. It is also renowned for its deposits of Marble, Sand Stone and some unique decorative stones.
